On Monday, HP has launched two new gaming Laptops in India. HP Omen 15 and Omen 17. Both laptops are made for the hard-core game lovers. Omen 15 is priced at Rs.80,990 and HP Omen 17 will be available at Rs.1,59,990.

HP Omen 15




Talking about the Omen 15, Omen has come up with good looks, colourful display and booming sounds. The laptop does have the disadvantage of short battery life and the lid being of plastic instead of aluminium.

The notebook has been designed with eye-catching framework, responsive keyboard and easy to remove panel. It also contains a solid state drive and RAM. Talking about its looks and framework, HP Omen 15 has black lid, with four red lines forming an ‘X’ which divides the lid into 4 quadrants of which two are covered in carbon fibre and two in plastic. Besides, the deck is made up of aluminium. The notebook is designed in such a way that it looks like aluminium.




Out of the four quadrants, the top most quadrant features the Omen logo which is shiny red. The display is 15.6 inch surrounded by a thick bezel with Omen logo. The notebook is a bit heavier but thinner. This time HP made its WASD keys in bright red for gaming purpose while the rest are black with red sides and letters.

The Omen includes ports which every gamer would want in its gaming notebook. Kensington lock slot, a mini display port, HDMI output, an Ethernet jack, a USB 3.0 port, a Thunderbolt 3 Portland headset and mic jacks are all included in the all-new Omen 15. This time HP Omen has improved its keyboard and touchpad. The keys are extremely clicky and responsive while it comes with 2.2-inch touchpad.




The Omen 15 has 6GB of VRAM which won’t power the games to take advantage of the 4K screen but will be enough to play games in 1080p resolution frame. Overall, Omen 15 performs well as compared to its rival notebooks.

HP Omen 17

HP has redesigned its all-new Omen 17. HP has come with great gaming notebook with Omen 17 but lacks behind the connectivity, maintenance options and the touchpad. It has come up with extremely new, more aggressive and powerful look with great hardware. It is equipped with 16GB RAM with great potential than ever. Omen 17 comes with Intel Core i7-7700HQ with 1443 MHz (core) and 8000 MHz (memory). The display is 17.3 inch with 1920×1080 pixels 127 PPI. The overall weight of the notebook is 3.786 kg with the power supply of 815 g.

The Omen 17 has come up with all new case which is classy but bulky at the same time. It is 5 mm in width, 7 mm in depth and 500 g in weight. It also contains three USB ports, Gen 1 (type A port), Gen 2 (type C port) with Thunderbolt 3, Display port 1.2, and HP sleep and Charge. It does contain a microphone and headphone jacks, HDMI and a Mini display port. In this new model of Omen 17, the ports are evenly arranged on both sides, unlike the previous series of Omen 17. It features Intel 802.




As compared to other rival gaming notebooks, Omen 17 out performs with a slight lead of 4%. As in Omen 15, Omen 17 has also modified its layout and arrow keys. Now the arrow keys are full sized. The space bar has also been enlarged which makes it easy to work with. Again, the F keys are no tinier. The WASD key comes with white labels and is highlighted with orange with special backlight mode which enlightens up these four keys. The other labels are red which makes it barely readable as they are combined with the red light.

Talking about the touchpad, it is even smaller than the previous version of Omen 17 but has come up with two buttons. The notebook supports multi-touch gestures.
