OnePlus 6T Won’t Have Wireless Charging & IP Rating

Carl Pie, the co-founder of OnePlus had confirmed the removal of 3.5mm audio jack with its upcoming OnePus 6T smartphone in the last month. And now, the company’s CEO Pete Lau also confirmed that the device will lack the wireless charging support and also the IP rating. While most other mobile makers are adding wireless charging support to their flagship devices, OnePlus doesn’t want to consider unless it is as fast as its own Dash Charging tech.

Huawei is rumored to introduce its 15W wireless fast charging with the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones while the Dash Charge offers up to 20W power output.  The OnePlus company is, however, working hard to bring its wireless charging support with fast charging and less heat generation technology. The upcoming OnePlus 6T will also lack IP certification just like OnePlus 6.

The OnePlus has advertised OnePlus 6T as water-resistant but has never talked about any kind of IP certification.  The teardown videos of OnePlus however revealed that  OnePlus 6T have to actually include the required protection to claim IP67 certification. With the OnePlus 6T, the company might not have apply for any IP certifications, but we still hope that it comes with the same kind of protection as seen on its predecessor.
