RealMe 1 VS Redmi Note 5 Pro; Which One To Buy?
RealMe is a sub-brand launched by Oppo in India on the 15th of May, 2018. Realme 1 is the first handset in this series and it is a perfect smartphone in the budget category just like Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro, a leading smartphone from the very same category.
Here is how to make it easier for you to choose between the two:
Oppo Realme at first glance appears to have a bold unique look with a body made of fiberglass at the back. It weighs 158grams and has a measurement of 156.00×75.2×7.8mm.
While Redmi Note 5 Pro with a conveniently located fingerprint scanner and volume rockers on the sides has a design that is not specifically out of touch either. Redmi Note 5 Pro weighs 181 grams and has dimensions of 158.6×75.4×8.05mm.
Hence, Oppo Realme 1 is lighter than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display offers its users a 3D like an experience. It has an aspect ratio of 18:9, 1500:1 color contrast ratio and a brightness level up to 450 nits that is enough for outdoor use as well.
Realme1 sports an identical 6-inch FHD+ screen with 2160×1080 pixels as its resolution. It has thinner bezels than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which is as eye-catchy as Xiaomi’s 3D like display.
Oppo Realme 1 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor while Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 638 SoC combined with an Adreno 509 graphics unit.
Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 is surfaced by the not so up to date Android 7.1.1. On the contrary, the Realme 1 is bundled with the new Android 8.1 Oreo. The MIUI interface of Redmi Note 5 Pro looks lighter but isn’t completely bloat-free. The Oppo Realme 1 also has heavy Color 5.0 which means its performance is much faster than the Note 5 Pro.
Realme 1 is available in Diamond Black, Solar Red colors while Redmi Note 5 Pro is available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue colors.
The Note 5 Pro’s battery is backed by a 4,000mAh which lasts more than 12 hours on power usage and for almost 24 hours on average usage.
Oppo Realme 1 is backed by a relatively smaller 3,410mAh battery. Due to the software effectiveness and the MediaTek chipset, the phone lasts more than one day on the ordinary use and almost 24 hours even after 24 hours of usage.
Although Realme 1’s camera doesn’t match the mark set by the Redmi Note 5 Pro, it’s 13 MP rear camera is at an average level whereas the 8MP front-facing sensor clicks decent portraits with adequate depth of field.
Xiaomi’s dual 12MP(f/2.2,1.25mm) + MP(f/2.0, 1.12um) camera with phase detection autofocus and dual LED focus is worth the praise. It also performs well even in dim lighting. The 20 MP front facing camera clicks keen images with a variety of effects.
Storage & Pricing
Realme 1 comes in 3 variants with the base model being priced below Rs.10,000 mark with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage while the 4GB+ 64GB variant is valued for Rs.10,990. The 64GB RAM+128GB massive internal storage variant is suitable for keeping all the pictures, movies and games.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro has 4GB of RAM which doesn’t match the smoothness of Realme 1’s 64GB of RAM. It has an onboard memory of 64GB which isn’t suitable for keeping all the images, movies and games. It is priced at Rs.16,999.
“While Redmi Note 5 Pro is a more competent phone with better cameras, stronger build, long lasting battery life, and most importantly a conveniently located fingerprint sensor, Realme 1’s unique design, low price, availability of a variant with massive internal storage of 128GB and other perks like Dual 4G and a MicroSD card support make it an equally good choice for smartphone lovers.”
