The first product of Xiaomi for 2018 is all set to launch in India. The company has sent media invites for the launch of the smartphone. The budget-friendly Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to unveil on February 14.
The smartphone was launched in China in December in different color variants including black, gold, light blue, and rose gold. The smartphone comes with 2GB RAM, 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM pricing roughly Rs 8,100, Rs 9,100, and Rs 11,200 respectively.
We expect the smartphone to come with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage variants to be sold in India. Redmi 5 plus was also launched in China with 3GB RAM variant pricing roughly Rs 13,200. However, it is not known whether Redmi 5 plus will make an appearance at the launch event in India.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus Specifications
Both the smartphones (Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 plus) are a dual sim smartphone that runs on MIUI 9 and Android Nougat. The Redmi 5 comes with 5.7 inches full HD plus display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and resolution of 720×1440 pixels. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC and is coupled with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB variants with 16GB, and 32GB inbuilt storage. Whereas, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with aspect ratio same as Redmi Note 5 (18:9) and resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC and is coupled with 3GB and 4GB RAM with inbuilt storage of 32GB and 64GB.
As far as the camera is concerned, both the smartphones come with the same 12-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF. On the front of the smartphones, there is a 5 megapixel of the camera with a soft light selfie flash. The smartphones are also mounted with a fingerprint sensor at the rear.
The smartphones come with connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth4.2, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro USB. The smartphones also come with different sensors including ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and accelerometer.
Apart from all the features, both the smartphones come with different battery capacity. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is supported with a 3300mAh battery while the Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus is supported by a 4000mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 or Redmi Note 5 will be the successor of the last year’s Xiaomi Redmi 4 and is expected to cost around Rs 8,000 in India.
